Murad Shinwari - Pashto Poet [A Biographical Note]
A BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Murad Shinwari son of pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari was born at Landi Kotal (Khyber Agency) in 1928. His mother died when he was a year old. He obtained his early education at government high school No.1, Peshawar. His first job was as an assistant editor of Afghan newspaper, and his first book Palwashay was a collection of short stories. His second job was in the Khyber Rifle as an instructor that led to his studies at the Army School of Education in Murree, and subsequent award of BT degree by Punjab University. Murad Shinwari later obtained a masters degree in pashto literature from University of Peshawar, receiving gold medal for his outstanding performance. In 1958, Murad Shinwari joined Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar as Librarian, lexicographer and translator. Here he exhibited excellent skills and edited 40 rare manuscripts and compiled a dictionary. Among others, these included translation of The Merchant of Vince by Shakespeare, and The lady of Shalott by Alferd Tennyson in Pashto free verse. However, after developing differences with the Director of the Academy (Maulana Abdul Qadir), Murad Shinwari joined Radio Station Peshawar as a staff artist. At the station, he wrote some memorable feature programs including Hujra, and Maraka that highlighted social evils in pashtun society. Murad Shinwari life took a big turn when he started writing lyrics for Pashto movies in early 1970s. This was probably the beginning of the golden era <b>...</b>

Pakistan Punjabi ISI Staged Massive Anti-US Rally in Peshawar to Fool Pashtuns Against US 4 War
Thousands of people gathered in north Pakistan's Peshawar to call for the imposition of Sharia law, the traditional system of Islamic law, in the country, which is unacceptable for Punjab province & people. The rally was organised by Islamist party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam backed by Pakistan Punjabi ISI in response to Baluchistan independent cause. Huge crowds were addressed by the party's pro punjabi ISI president, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who accused the government of Afghanistan and the US of double standards by initiating dialogue with the Taliban. Rehman also threatened to resist any moves by the Pakistan government to allow NATO to resume shipping supplies through the country to its troops in neighbouring Afghanistan. He obtained his Takhassus degree (an advanced degree equivalent to Ph.D.) in Islamic education from Darul Uloom Karachi, the largest and most renowned Islamic educational institution in Pakistan. He also obtained a Master's degree in Arabic literature from Punjab University, and a law degree (LLB) from Karachi University. He is regarded as an expert in the fields of Hadith (sacred traditions of the Holy Prophet, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him), Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Economics, and Tasawwuf (Islamic spirituality). He has been teaching these and other branches of Islamic education since 1959. He served as Judge of the Shariat Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1982 to May 2002. He is also a permanent member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, an organ of OIC based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has served as the Vice Chairman of the Academy for nine years. His ancestors were Paswal Gujjars of Jammu in the State of Jammu and Kashmir who had immigrated to the Jhelum and Gujrat districts of Northern Punjab bordering Kashmir. Mian Muhammad Bakhsh's father was Mian Shamsuddin, whose forefathers had moved to the Khari area in Mirpur from Chak Bahram in the Gujrat District. Four generations of Mian Muhammad's family had been associated with the tomb of Pir-e Shah Ghazi in Khari Sharif, a well respected Sufi saint of the area. His great grandfather (Mian Din Muhammad) was the khalifah or successor of the saint, and his grandfather and father were the sajjadah nasheens. Mian Muhammad Bakhsh and his older brother Mian Bahawal Bakhsh studied Hadith from the madressah of Hafiz Muhammad Ali at Samwal Sharif. He was well educated in Farsi and Arabi.
