Hazara Gunmen kill 8 Shia' in Quetta Baluchistan Pakistan
Police say Shia gunmen riding on a motorcycle have killed eight Shias in two sectarian attacks in south-west Pakistan. A senior police officer, Shaukat Ajmad, said assailants had opened fire on a car on Saturday, killing six people in Quetta, the capital of the impoverished south-western Baluchistan province. Minutes later, they shot and killed two people in a rickshaw in the same area. Shias are a minority in overwhelmingly Sunni & Hindu Pakistan. Although most Sunni and Shia Muslims live peacefully together, extremists from both sides have targeted each other over the past three decades. In recent years, Sunni attacks on Shias have become far more common.

HCP's exclusive report on Water sports Gala at Khanpur lake, Pakistan.
Location : HARIPUR Hazara, Pakistan. April 13 th 2011: HCP (Hazara.com.pk) team at the annual three-day Khanpur water sports gala which began at Khanpur lake on last Friday.The event proved a success attracting thousands of picnickers from Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Rawalpindi, Wah, Taxila and even Lahore. The Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had introduced this festival in 2009 at Khanpur lake on experimental basis and following encouraging response from the visitors, the department has formally declared it an official event like Shandur Mela. As witnessed in the past, picnickers from different cities, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Taxila, Wah Cantonment and nearby cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are likely to throng the festival and enjoy different water sports. The organisers said that during the three-day gala sportsmen from different departments and cities would exhibit their skills in motor boating, scooter boating, fishing contests, paragliding, hang-gliding, hot air ballooning, motor gliding, power gliding, air safari, etc. The festival also offers cultural events such as special Hazara dance, Chitrali dance, and Khattak dance and songs in local languages like Pashto, Hindko and Punjabi for the entertainment of picnickers. Abbottabad:The three-day National Folk Music Festival, which was being held in Ayubia was bid adieu on Sunday amid live performances by known artists who entertained hundreds of participants from all parts of the country. The festival was organised by the Tourism Corporation Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP), where the artists displayed their traditional folk music and dances in pavilions of their provinces. The major performing singers at the event included Shazia Khushk, Faakhir, Humera Arshad, Roxen the Band, Akhtar Chanaal, Gulzar Alam, Ahmad Gul, Nadeem Abbas Lonewala, Rukhsana Kashmiri, Safdar Hussain, Mumtaz Ali, Rehmat Bano, Pervez, Amanat Ali, Rabi Pirzada, Afshan Zebi, Khalid Malik, Aamir Zeb, Hamad Beg, Rizwana Khan, Mudassar Zaman, Sami, Karan Khan, Janas Khan and Ismail Junaid, who entertained the audience with their music. HCP team was on site to cover the full event and really enjoyed the live performances by famous artists and it was a truly memorable occasion. Abbottabad:On May the 3rd 2012 a funfair was held at The Muslim College of Commerce and Management Sciences Mandian Chock, Manshera Road Abbottabad (HAZARA). It was first funfair of the Muslim Education System in Abbottabad Organized by the students of Management and Commerce. In which three campuses of Muslim Education Abbottabad took part. It was a gala event with lots of stalls and variety show. Basically stalls were assignment for Marketing Students. Many students arranged stalls their self and few of them invite different brands. It started at 10 am, the chief guest Maham Asif Malik ,the assistant commissioner, inagurated the event and visited stalls. Then she watched the variety show. She left at 12 noon. Variety shows were arranged for entertainment purpose. The second phase of event started with second variety show. The students showed splendid performance and the people gazed with marvel. Their enthusiasm at third variety show was the evidence of the fame and success of event. The second chief guest was Dr Naveed Ahmed, the director research station Abbottabad, who distributed the certificates among the organizers. the event ended at 6:30 pm. Watch the HCP special report from Abbottabad : A Entertainment-filled two-day Orsh Mela, or locally known Rash Mela, concluded in Naawan Shehar near here on Sunday.The Revival of Indigenous Culture Heritage (Rich), a pilot project sponsored by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) to revive culture, arts, crafts and heritage in the province, and Hazara Arts Council had jointly organised the culture-cum-sports event. The event was organised for the first time under the Rich project after 1983.Local people and visitors from across the Hazara division participated in the mela in large number and enjoyed the traditional cultural and local sports activities. Besides folk music, live arts performance and participation of army music band, local sports including stone balling, gatka, archery, horse race, kabadi and stalls displaying handicrafts, embroidery and woodwork were also part of the two-day gala. (Enjoy the local running commentary and hinko mahias in this report) Tanka, a special clothes embroidered at local level, were beautifully displayed at a stall where women visitors evinced a keen interest in the product. Stalls were set up where stone-carved, wood lacquer work, basketry, chappal, wood-carved, metal work and other items had been put on display. Meanwhile, local residents and visitors from Hazara division praised the TCKP for organizing such fairs to provide entertainment opportunities to the people and market their locally made products.
