US/Iran tension artificial?
President Obama announced today that funding for the military will be cut back. Now the Department of Defense is scrambling for a way to find out how to trim $400 billion in spending. Although the cuts seem unreasonable, compared to other countries military budgets the US still tops the charts. Iran threatens action if US returns to Persian Gulf
Iran has warned the United States it will take action if an American warship returns to the Persian Gulf. It left the area when Iran started its 10-day naval war games, during which they successfully test-fired a number of different missiles. But Russia's defence ministry says that despite the latest military exercise, the Iranians don't have the technology to make intercontinental ballistic missiles. Meanwhile France is pushing for stricter sanctions as it says it's sure Tehran is developing nuclear weapons. It's urged EU countries to follow the US in freezing Iranian central bank assets and imposing an embargo on oil exports. Tehran has been threatening to block the Strait of Hormuz - one of the world's most important oil routes - if the West stepped up sanctions. Obama freezes all Iranian assets in the US

US and EU joining forces to seize Iran's oil?
The European Union has now jumped on the sanctions bandwagon. The EU joins the US and Canada in sanctions against Iran for allegedly pursuing nuclear weapons. The countries involved in the sanctions hope Iran changes its mind on the alleged enrichment program, but many feel this is a flawed strategy because the IAEA report doesn't show concrete evidence that Iran is enriching uranium for weapons, and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has echoed the report and declared Iran is not armed. What do US sanctions on Iran mean for the world?
One of the main issues of US foreign policy today involves how America is handling Iran's nuclear program.For the Obama administration the answer is sanctions, and this weekend the latest round is set to go into effect. It will target transactions made with the Iranian central bank. This summer the sanctions on Iranian oil will come into effect - meaning that if you buy Iranian petroleum, you'd be blocked out of doing any business with any financial institutions in the US. This measure will upset other countries who rely upon Iranian oil and also it could mean a dramatic spike in oil prices in the US, which would not only hurt consumers, but could also severely hurt President Obama's chances of being re-elected in November. US vs Iran: War over the Strait of Hormuz?
An Iranian fighter plane has spotted a US aircraft carrier crossing the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is the lifeline for exporting oil from the Middle East to the rest of the world. Iran Prepares For War With usa and Israel
Tension is continuing to rise, Iranian state TV has shown pictures of what it says are recent military exercises in central Iran. Iranian warships have entered the Mediterranean, stoking already soaring regional tensions. The Iranian navy's top admirial said the craft, thought to be a destroyer and its supply vessel, were on a mission of peace, but also that Iran wanted to showcase its naval power. Unconfirmed reports said the ships might be destined for Syria. Fears that the country's nuclear programme is aimed at developing nuclear weapons led to a decision by the EU to stop importing crude oil from Iran from July 1. Tension is continuing to rise in the Middle East ahead of a planned inspection of Iran's nuclear facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency next week.

Iranian TV has shown the first video footage of an advanced US drone aircraft that Tehran says it downed near the Afghan border. فیلم هواپیمای امریکایی به غنیمت گرفته شده، ایران Iran Displays Downed US Drone TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian state broadcaster Thursday evening released the first images of the highly advanced US stealth spy drone which was downed through a cyberattack by Iranian military forces last week as it was flying over the country's airspace. According to the TV report, the wing-to-wing width of the RQ-170 Sentinel drone is around 26 meters with a length of 4.5 meters and height of 1.84 meters. The drone is equipped with highly advanced surveillance, data gathering, electronic communication and radar systems, the report said. The batwing-shaped, radar-evading aircraft, which are capable of being fitted with different sensor payloads meaning they can be equipped to capture a range of intelligence material, including high-resolution images, radiation measurements and air samples. The US officials and western diplomats said the stealth drone was part of a fleet of secret aircraft that the CIA has used for several years in an escalating espionage campaign targeting Iran's nuclear facilities. The aircraft, built by Lockheed Martin, is best known for its role in surveilling the compound in Pakistan where Osama bin Laden was killed. Iran declares Israel bombed its own embassy
On Monday a bomb was detonated in New Delhi, India killing four people. The bomb was allegedly designed to kill members of the Israeli embassy and the Israeli Prime Minister quickly accused Iran for laying out the attacks.
