Pakistan-Iran-Afghan talks 'a message of defiance' to the US
With trilateral talks between the leaders of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan underway in Islamabad, one question arising is what each side has to gain. Political analyst Ahmed Quraishi says Pakistan is sending a message of defiance to the US. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Pakistan for a trilateral summit aimed at addressing how Islamabad should facilitate negotiations between Afghanistan and the Taliban. Many see the move as a defiance of US will by two traditional American allies -- Pakistan and Afghanistan -- who are now seeking to include Iran, a stated adversary of the US, into the negotiation process. Ahmed Quraishi, the President of the Paknationalists Forum, believes each side is pursuing its own goals. "Washington considers Iran as some sort of an enemy," he told RT, "and Pakistan is sending a message that Pakistani policy -- for quite some time, actually -- would be independent and that Pakistan would pursue its interest even if those interests do not fall within the larger, strategic plan of the United States in the region." Quraishi noted that Iran timed the visit specifically because of rising fears brought on by war rhetoric coming from the US and its allies. He noted that Iran's principal aim was to ensure that it would not become encircled by Washington's allies. "They're worried about the rhetoric and drums of war -- the psychological warfare, and I think they're very keen to ensure that at least two ...

US Stealth Drone missing over Iran Afghanistan Border
The Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel is one of the most advanced stealth airplanes in the United States Military. It was a secret drone until the end of 2009. The Iranians just claimed today they have killed one. But have they? NATO says that their operators lost control of a drone last week over western Afghanistan. Iran military officials claim the plane was downed on their East border and has little damage. They say it was not shot down by jet fighters or ground defenses, but using some kind of electronic interference. The informed source said on Sunday that Iran Army's electronic warfare unit successfully targeted the American built RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft after it crossed into Iranian airspace over the border with neighboring Afghanistan. The Iranians have claimed US drone kills many times, although they have never produced much proof of their claims. This is the first time they claim an Sentinel kill, which is very significant. The RQ-170 is a stealth drone and, in theory, the Iranians wouldn't have the technology to detect it. They haven't shown any picture of the downed RQ-170 Sentinel. If they really killed it, I would imagine that they would like to brag about it with videos and pictures. The United States haven't confirmed any killed drone, but you would expect that in their continuous media war. Given the ridiculous media record of the Iranian military and the Sentinel's technology, my hunch is that they are lying again.

Iran airs footage of downed US drone
Uploaded by : www.facebook.com Iran has released video footage of the most advanced US reconnaissance drone which was downed by the Iranian Army in the eastern part of the Islamic Republic earlier this week. On Sunday December 4, the Iranian Army's electronic warfare unit downed the US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft which was flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar, some 140 miles (225km) from the Afghan border. The aircraft had crossed into Iran's airspace over the border with neighboring Afghanistan. On Tuesday, two US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the drone has been part of a CIA reconnaissance mission, involving the United State's intelligence community stationed in Afghanistan. They claimed the reconnaissance capability of the RQ-170 Sentinel drone enabled it to gather information from inside Iran by flying along Afghanistan's border with the Islamic Republic. The RQ-170 is an unmanned stealth aircraft designed and developed by the Lockheed Martin Company.

The Alyona Show 1/11/12
Michael Hastings is on the show to talk about his new book, "The Operators". He's the Rolling Stone Reporter that became notorious for ending General Stanley McChrystal's career but he didn't stop there. Also today is the ten year anniversary of the opening of Guantanamo Bay. Andy Worthington will be on the show to talk about the wounds Gitmo won't allow us to heal, and whether we really believe there's a chance for it to close. Also another Iranian Nuclear Scientist has been killed, this time in a car explosion. There's no proof that Israel or the US are behind it, but who else would be interested and how grave are these assassinations on a legal level, internationally? And then don't miss happy hour.

Phares on LBC's Khat Mubashar (Part 2): "A President Romney would support freedom in Syria and Iran"
In part two of an interview with Khat Moubashar (Direct) on LBC (Arabic), Professor Walid Phares argues that if Governor Romney had been President three or four years ago, the Iranian and Syrian regimes would have been dealt with differently. "By now," argues Phares, "Iranians and Syrians would have been liberated from their oppressive regimes. In 2009, the Obama Administration lost an opportunity to assist the Iranian students and demonstrators. Throughout the Arab Spring, the Administration acted too slowly in support of civil societies." On Afghanistan, Phares said "We need to elevate the temperature of the situation higher than below zero by engaging forces for civil society and partnering with them before the US withdraws. "On Lebanon," Phares said, "US policy is firm: Disarm Hezbollah."

International Nowruz Festival, Dushanbe Tajikistan 2012 P 4 نوروز تاجیکستان
Nowrūz (Persian: نوروز‎, IPA: [nouˈɾuːz], meaning "[The] New Day") is the name of the Iranian New Year[4] in Iranian calendars and the corresponding traditional celebrations.[5] Nowruz is also widely referred to as the "Persian New Year".[6][7][8][9] Nowruz is celebrated and observed by Iranian peoples and the related cultural continent and has spread in many other parts of the world, including parts of Central Asia, Caucasus, South Asia, Northwestern China, the Crimea and some groups in the Balkans. Nowruz marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the year in Iranian calendar. It is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox, which usually occurs on March 21 or the previous/following day depending on where it is observed. As well as being a Zoroastrian holiday and having significance amongst the Zoroastrian ancestors of modern Iranians, the same time is celebrated in parts of the South Asian sub-continent as the new year. The moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year and Iranian families gather together to observe the rituals. Originally being a Zoroastrian festival, and the holiest of them all, Nowruz is believed to have been invented by Zoroaster himself, although there is no clear date of origin.[10] Since the Achaemenid era the official year has begun with the New Day when the Sun leaves the zodiac of Pisces and enters the zodiacal sign of Aries, signifying the Spring Equinox.
