Going to war with Iran on an "if"?
On Tuesday the Senate held a hearing to discuss what the US views as worldwide threats. It is no surprise that Iran made the top of the list as tensions between the West and Iran have grown. According to some reports, 70 percent of Americans believe Iran has a nuclear weapon despite Secretary Defense Leon Panetta admitting that is false. Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst, joins us to discuss should Americans be afraid of Iran and if America should go to war on an if. Like us and/or follow us: twitter.com www.facebook.com

Iran the next Iraq?
Despite a lack of concrete evidence, the Western powers and their allies have continued to accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons. A series of events including the bombing of Israeli embassies, threatening to cut oil exports to the UK and loading fuel rods in a research reactor have many feeling Iran is provoking a war. So is Iran really a threat or is the mainstream media promoting America's next war? David Swanson, author of War is a Lie, joins us to discuss the complicated situation with Iran. In the past few weeks an Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated, the West has increased sanctions against the country and Tehran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has admitted to the public that Iran is not making nuclear weapons, but the mainstream media begs to differ. Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan was assassinated Wednesday when two men on a motorcycle stuck a magnet bomb to his vehicle and rode off. According to reports, Roshan is the fifth Iranian nuclear scientist assassinated in the last two years. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has publicly denied American involvement and no one has come forward claiming responsibility for the murder. Jamal Abdi, policy director for the National Iranian American Council, helps us analyze who could be responsible and will this cause greater tension between Iran and the US. US and Iran on a collision course?
The relationship between Iran and the West hasn't been in good terms for the past several decades and with recent events things seem to have gotten a little rockier. Both sides have made questionable threats, all of which have pushed the two countries closer to war. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has declared that Iran has abandoned all plans to develop nuclear weapons, but conflicting reports have surfaced in the mainstream media. US and EU joining forces to seize Iran's oil?
The European Union has now jumped on the sanctions bandwagon. The EU joins the US and Canada in sanctions against Iran for allegedly pursuing nuclear weapons. The countries involved in the sanctions hope Iran changes its mind on the alleged enrichment program, but many feel this is a flawed strategy because the IAEA report doesn't show concrete evidence that Iran is enriching uranium for weapons, and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has echoed the report and declared Iran is not armed. The EU still unites with the West and Doctor Sara Vakhshouri, author and independent consultant, joins us to find out what the sanctions really accomplish. Follow Liz on Twitter at twitter.com

Massive American troop build-up in Israel: War with Iran on the horizon?
President Obama announced today that funding for the military will be cut back, but at the same time the US has sent thousands of US troops to Israel. The two countries are doing a joint exercise called "Austere Challenge 12." The exercise is meant to develop defense systems and collaboration between American and Israeli forces. US officials have denied this is in retaliation to Iran's war games and allege this was planned way in advance. Iran threatens to cut off fuel exports to EU
On Wednesday the Iranian Foreign Ministry threatened Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece, stating if they refused to extended oil export contracts they would be cut off completely. At the same time, Iran has proclaimed major nuclear advancements in an already controversial enrichment program. France and the Netherlands were told they will no longer receive any Iranian oil. Europe makes up about 18 percent of Iran's oil exports. According to some reports, this is a pre-emptive move to initiate the EU boycott on Iranian oil that was set for July of this year. Gareth Porter, investigative journalist and historian, joins us to take a closer look at alleged threat. Like us and/or follow us: twitter.com www.facebook.com

Iran declares Israel bombed its own embassy
On Monday a bomb was detonated in New Delhi, India killing four people. The bomb was allegedly designed to kill members of the Israeli embassy and the Israeli Prime Minister quickly accused Iran for laying out the attacks. A second bombing attempt was foiled in Georgia and was said to target an Israeli diplomat. Although Israel claims these attacks are in retaliation to the deaths of Iranian nuclear scientists, Iran has come forth and said they are not behind the attacks of terror and went as far to say Israel did it to themselves. Stephen Lendman, writer and host on Progressive Radio News Hour, joins us to take a closer look at the bombings. Like us and/or follow us: twitter.com www.facebook.com

Europe and Iran point fingers in a blame game
On Wednesday Iran proceeded loading fuel rods into their Research Reactor. The enrichment program has received worldwide criticism due to fears that Iran could potentially use this program to develop nuclear weapons. Also Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal received an ultimatum from Iran. They requested the four countries to continue their long-term oil export contracts or be scraped completely. France and the Netherlands were told they will no longer receive any Iranian oil. Many see the two moves as an act of aggression and according to some reports, this is a pre-emptive move to the EU boycott on Iranian oil that was set for July. Why does the EU join in sanctions against Iran?
The European Union has now joined the US and Canada in sanctions against Iran. The sanctions are an attempt to prevent Iran from furthering their nuclear enrichment program. Despite Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta admitting that Iran is not making nuclear weapons, the futile sanctions continue. The EU makes up for 20 percent of Iran's oil exports and many experts believe Iran won't feel the effects of the sanctions. The New York Times worsens ties between West and Iran
The New York Times has stirred up some controversy when it published as fact that there is proof Iran is developing nuclear weapons. The IAEA report, that was released last year, never stated that Iran's nuclear program had a military objective. Was this alleged error a deliberate attempt to raise tension between the West and Iran? Robert Naiman, policy director at Just Foreign Policy, joins us to look further into the matter. New Bomb For Iran
This a new Bomb called MOP (massive ordnance penetrator) sometimes resemble of MOB (mother of bomb), under development to reach the specific targets in Iran. Bombs are being developed that cut through 60 feet of cocrete. US Department of Defense leaders have found the money they sought to speed deployment of the 15-ton Massive Ordnance Penetrator bunker buster super bomb on the B-2 stealth bomber for potential use in heavily defended areas of the world, such as Iran and North Korea. The Air Force 708th Armament Systems Group (ARSG/PK) at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., awarded a $51.9 million contract late Friday (FA8681-09-C-0280,P00002) to the Boeing Co. in St. Louis to integrate the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) on a B-2 test aircraft. The Air Force has been considering fitting the Massive Ordnance Penetrator to the B-2. In August the Pentagon asked Congress for permission to move $68 million in the 2010 DOD budget to the Massive Ordnance Penetrator program to enable the first four super bombs to be carried by the B-2. The Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), built by Boeing, is so large that the B-2 bomber could carry only one of the weapons. The super bomb has a short wing span and is satellite guided. The B-2 is a radar-evading bomber designed to penetrate sophisticated air defenses and drop explosives on valuable, heavily defended targets. --
