Tajik is synanym to Persian, its referred to eastern Iranian people who live in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzekistan and rest of central Asia. In Turkish areas of Iran, Turks refer to Persian speaking Iranians as Tajiks as well. Balkh was the most prominent city then in the Persian province of Khorasan,and its now in northern Afghanistan. In 1218 , Mavlana Balkhi's father moved away from his ancestorial land, Balkh, in order to avoid the warlike Mongols who were then conquering extensively under the leadership of their leader, Changiz Khan. The family travelled to Baghdad, to Mecca on pilgrimage, and to Damascus and eventually settled in Karaman near Konya in what is now western Turkey. Following this move to Konya, then the capital of the western Persianzed Seljuk Turks, Jalaluddin's father was busy as a theologian, teacher and preacher. Jalaluddin followed in this tradition and, upon his father's demise in 1231 succeeded to his post as a prominent teacher. This part of the world was then known to its inhabitants as Rum, a name derived from the Byzantine Roman Empire that had formerly held it. Jalaluddin is known in the west as - Rumi - derived from Rum. My only message,is that we all are ONE, but have different ways to express the VERY same feeling of longing for finding the divine within and melting with IT. A note on the music: This entire video was constructed in silence-only the poem and the images were put together without my knowing what music would be the right one. The music is so important to the interpretation of these poems. Rather than reading them, the music is my voice. When I 'laid' this beautiful piece of music over the video it fit perfectly. Contemporary spiritualist Deepak Chopra got inspired by Rumi's Love Poems and asked several celebrities to read them to music. Two of his closest friends, Akmaluddin Tabib اکمل الدین طبیب (physician), and Serajuddin al-Tatari سراج الدین التاتاری were staying with him. He was under the care of some of the best physicians. It should be mentioned that although Baghdad بغداد was completely destroyed and its citizens massacred only 15 years ago (in 1258), and about half of the total population of the Muslim countries massacred by the Mongol hordes, Muslims still led the world in knowledge, science, literature, and culture. Akmaluddin Tabib had written a commentary on the renowned al-Qanun fi al-Tib القانون فی الطب (The Canon of Medicine) of Ibne Sina ابنِ سینا (Avicenna: 980-1037). The physicians trying to diagnose Mawlanas illness were perplexed as they could not diagnose the illness. Finally they concluded that he himself wanted to die and asked him to tell them about his illness. Around that time Mawlanas friends, family members, disciples, and other people constantly visited him and he consoled them by reciting his ghazals centered on the theme of death. In the Sufi poetry, death is sought since it leads to the soul getting freed from the cage of the body and finally meeting with Allah. Starting in November 1273, the city city of Konya قونیہ was hit by repeated earthquakes. Konya was then the capital of Seljuq سلجوق Turks. The people of Konya became apprehensive and went to Mawlana. Life Shahbaz Qalandar (Shaikh Usman Marwandi) was born in Marwand, Afghanistan[2] to a dervish, Syed Ibrahim Kabiruddin[3] whose ancestors migrated from Baghdad and settled down in Mashhad, a center of learning and civilization, before migrating again to Marwand. A contemporary of Baha-ud-din Zakariya, Fariduddin Ganjshakar, Syed Jalaluddin Bukhari Surkh-posh of Uchch, Shams Tabrizi and Rumi, he travelled around the Muslim world settled in Sehwan (Sindh, Pakistan) and was buried there.[4] His dedication to the knowledge of various religious disciplines enabled him to eventually become a profound scholar.
