Karzai: Congressman Not Welcome In Afghanistan
Wolf Blitzer, CNN: I was shocked recently when I heard that you denied permission to an American Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, a member of the House -- the House Foreign Affairs Committee, subcommittee chairman. He was with a congressional delegation about to fly from Dubai into Kabul. And you said you're not going to let this Democratically-elected congressman into your country. Why? Hamid Karzai: A Democratically-elected congressman of the United States of America should not be talking of an ethnic divide in Afghanistan. Should not be interfering in Afghanistan's internal affairs. Should not be asking the Afghan people to have a federal structure against what the Afghan constitution has asked for. Should not be speaking disrespectfully about the Afghan people or the -- various ethnic groups in Afghanistan. If an Afghan did that from Afghanistan, how would you react to him in America? BLITZER: So you're not going to let him back into your country, Dana Rohrabacher? KARZAI: Definitely not -- BLITZER: Ever, ever? KARZAI: Until he changes his tongue (ph), until he shows respect to the Afghan people, to our way of life and to our constitution. No foreigner has a place asking another people, another country, to change their constitution. Have we ever asked the United States to change -- BLITZER: Even after all that America has done for Afghanistan? KARZAI: But that doesn't give you the right to -- to play with our lives. BLITZER: And you think he's that dangerous to you ...

Afghan Anger: 'UN cop-out as NATO reaches bloody high'
Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai has accused NATO of killing eight children in an air strike on the country's territory. The incident adds to the already strained relationship between Afghanistan and its Western allies. Last week the United Nations released a report stating there had been a rise in civilian casualties in Afghanistan from 2790 in 2010 to 3021 in 2011. It noted that most deaths were caused by insurgents. Gareth Porter, investigative journalist and historian talks to RT, claiming the UN is not doing a responsible job tracking the civilian casualties that are the result of night raids by US special operations forces. Karzai seals strategic pact with India
The political leaders of Afghanistan and India have forged closer ties between their nations by signing a "strategic partnership" following talks in New Delhi. The agreement, announced on Tuesday after Afghan President Hamid Karzai's meeting with Manmohan Singh, the Indian prime minister, is the first such pact between Afghanistan and another country and aims to boost trade, security and cultural links between the countries. Karzai, speaking at a press conference with Singh, stressed again that "terrorism and radicalism" were being used "as an instrument of policy against our citizens". 'US seeks to stay forever in Afghanistan'
The US seeks to continue the Afghan war into a "perpetual state of low intensity guerilla conflict", preventing the country to rebuild its infrastructure, says a prominent political analyst. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has called for an investigation into what is described as the biggest coordinated Taliban attacks this year. Karzai says intelligence failures on the part of US-led forces allowed the militants to sneak into the most secure neighborhoods. The weekend assault in the capital Kabul and elsewhere left over 50 people--including four civilians and 11 Afghan soldiers --dead. Washington has dismissed Karzai's claim, saying the attacks were likely carried out by the Pakistan-based Haqqani network. This comes weeks ahead of the NATO summit in Chicago, where Karzai is expected to ink a strategic pact with the US. Meanwhile, the US is reportedly gearing up for a major offensive in the war-torn nation. Reports say the US-led spring offensive will be in the regions that control the main access routes into Kabul. Press TV has conducted an interview with Webster Griffin Tarpley, an author and historian in Washington, to further talk over the issue. Watch this article on our website: www.presstv.com

'Afghan rampage - cold-blooded & calculated atrocity'
The US has identified the soldier accused of killing 16 civilians in Kandahar as Sergeant Robert Bales. However an Afghan parliamentary investigation team says not one but up to 20 US troops could have taken part in the massacre. The incident has already sparked calls for an early withdrawal of NATO troops from the country. For more RT talks to anti-NATO activist in Chicago Rick Rozoff. Newt 'Obama Surrendered' by Apologizing
Protests in Afghanistan are now in their 4th day, after Korans were burned at the US prison at Bagram. Today, reports say that 12 people were killed, bringing the overall reported number to 20 people, including two US troops. We saw President Obama send an apology letter to Afghan President Hamid Karzai. However Newt Gingrich must have forgot all about that incident, as he attacked the President for the apology. Former CIA officer Jack Rice discusses.

The Taliban Spring - Afghanistan
Taliban resurgence led by biggest attacks since 2001 To see more go to www.youtube.com Follow us on Facebook (goo.gl or Twitter (www.twitter.com The Taliban have claimed that yesterday's attacks on Kabul, the biggest since 2001, are just the start of their spring offensive. This incisive report asks: what does a future with the Taliban mean for Afghanistan? "For them it's not a peace process", Amrullah Saleh, former head of Afghan Intelligence tells us. A Taliban prisoner concurs, "if the foreign troops leave, the Taliban will come back to Kabul". Saleh is adamant that the Taliban's "maximalist agenda" will lead to civil war once the West leaves Afghanistan and that the Afghan government participating in empty talks serves no other purpose than political expediency. "Peace talks with the Taliban have always been used to demonstrate to the international community that President Karzai is one step ahead", Fawzia Koofi explains. An MP and single mother, she refuses to be cowed by Taliban aggression, despite facing death threats. A classified Nato report, based on 27000 interrogations, not only states that the Taliban believe their control of Afghanistan is inevitable, but also highlights the links between the Taliban and Pakistan. For many in Afghanistan there is real anger that after so much bloodshed in the country, Pakistan is left untouched. As the West searches for the ending to its Afghan story, for Afghanis it feels like they are just reaching another beginning. April ...

Pakistan-Iran-Afghan talks 'a message of defiance' to the US
With trilateral talks between the leaders of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan underway in Islamabad, one question arising is what each side has to gain. Political analyst Ahmed Quraishi says Pakistan is sending a message of defiance to the US. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Pakistan for a trilateral summit aimed at addressing how Islamabad should facilitate negotiations between Afghanistan and the Taliban. Many see the move as a defiance of US will by two traditional American allies -- Pakistan and Afghanistan -- who are now seeking to include Iran, a stated adversary of the US, into the negotiation process. Ahmed Quraishi, the President of the Paknationalists Forum, believes each side is pursuing its own goals. "Washington considers Iran as some sort of an enemy," he told RT, "and Pakistan is sending a message that Pakistani policy -- for quite some time, actually -- would be independent and that Pakistan would pursue its interest even if those interests do not fall within the larger, strategic plan of the United States in the region." Quraishi noted that Iran timed the visit specifically because of rising fears brought on by war rhetoric coming from the US and its allies. He noted that Iran's principal aim was to ensure that it would not become encircled by Washington's allies. "They're worried about the rhetoric and drums of war -- the psychological warfare, and I think they're very keen to ensure that at least two ...
