Bombing of Akouedo military base in Abidjan, Ivory Coast - Eyewitness report - Africanews.com
Eye witness report of the bombing of Akouedo, a military barrack under the control of pro-Gbagbo forces, on the outskirts of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. These recordings are made on 4 April 2011. The UN peacekeeping office in Ivory Coast has confirmed that one of their helicopters belonging to the French troops fired on the forces of embattled Ivory Coast leader Laurent Gbagbo at the Akouedo Military Barracks on Thursday evening. Nick Birnback, spokesman for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, said Monday the helicopter fired on Gbagbo's troops at about 5 pm local time to prevent them from using heavy weapons at the Akouedo camp in Abidjan. According to AfricaNews reporter Selay Marius Kouassis, the bombardment traumatized a lot of locals quoting a lady who claimed the rocket filed through the roof of a house killing three people. Kouassi said the death toll could be higher. This video taken by a resident around the vicinity reveals the intensity of the attack.

China gifts the African Union with a home
It's a $200 million building, the tallest in the Ethiopian capital and the new headquarters of the African Union. It also happens to be entirely the work of China. Paid for with Chinese money and constructed by Chinese workers, the AU's new home in Addis Ababa is concrete evidence of Beijing's desire to increase its influence in Africa. Though some analysts say AU nations will still need and work closely with Europe and the United States, Chinese delegates are the ones being feted at the moment in Ethiopia. Al Jazeera's Nazanine Moshiri reports from Addis Ababa.
