Several buildings in the cluster have a classic char taq "four arch" floor-plan, characteristic of Zoroastrian fire-temples of the 3rd century onwards and that are the actual atashgahs that housed sacred fires. Other buildings include what may have been storage rooms and living quarters for priests and affluent pilgrims. A tentative identification of the purpose of the ruins was first made in 1937 by Andre Godard, but it was not until until 1960, when architect Maxine Siroux made the first drawings, that the site could be properly studied. Godard's identifications were subsequently confirmed by Klaus Schippman in 1971. Another feature of the complex are the remains of a tower-like circular building on the very top of the same hill. This structure, which was once at least twenty meters high, is known by the local populace as the Burj-i Gurban, or Burj-i Kurban,"Tower of Sacrifice," and appears to have been a military watch-tower with a flare that could be lit to warn of an approaching enemy . tags: Travel, Atashghah in Isfahan, fire temple, Zoroastrian, arhivairan, Isfahan, Iran Parsi song - Saida Jan, a Tajik teen singer -- Ashoqi Zaram Jan Parsi song - Saida Jan, a Tajik teen singer -- Ashoqi Zaram Jan tags: Music, khorasan, khurasan, khorasani, parsi, farsi, dari, persian, kabul, mazar, balkh, balkhi, aviccena, atta, zabiullah, massoud, herat, ismail, khan, panjshir, rumi, dushanbe, Samarqand, Bukhara, tajik, tajiki, tajikan, tajikistan, iran, zoroaster, Zoroastrian, aryana, ariana, tolotv, farhad, darya, ehsan, aman, valy, ahmad, zahir, uzbekistan, bamiyan, ghazni, ghor, laghman, pamir, salang, shahnamah, rodaki Parsi patriotic song -- As Tajiks we can be adherent of any religion and belief, But our cultural Identity is Zoroastrianism, its embedded in our culture and identity for thousands of years -- good words, good thoughts and good deeds Khorasan - Farsi Song ...Parsi patriotic song -- A Tajik can be an adherent of any religion such as Christianity, Buddhism, Islam Zoroastrianism, or He can be an Atheist or Agnostic, But regardless of his religious beliefs his cultural Identity is Zoroastrian, Zoroastrianism is embedded in his culture and identity for thousands of years and good thought, good words and good deed is the pride of every Tajik. tags: Entertainment, afghanistani, farsi, parsi, dari, tajik, tajiki, tajikistan, kabul, balkh, mazar, herat, pashto, panjshir, karzai, massoud, khurasan, khorasan, khorasani, iran, irani, iranian, Nejrab, parwan, salang, pamir, zoroaster, Zoroastrianism, zarthustra, zardusht, zardasht, balkhi, rumi, mazari, laghman, ghazni, ghazna, ismail, samani, somoni, dushanbe, samarqand, bukhara, sassanid, achaemendis, parthian, ashkani, pahlavi, tajikan, islam, muslim, taliban, mullahomar, bin, ladin Muhammad in Zoroastrian scriptures! Dr. Zakir Naik.flv This video is specially dedicated to the people of Iran who are well acquainted with the Zoroastrian religion..Here Dr.Zakir Naik, who is a scholar on comparative religion, is explaining the prophecies mentioned in the Zoroastrian/Parsi scriptures about the Last Messenger of GOD, Muhammad(pbuh).. Uploaded by nilo723 on 11 Jun 2010 It is mentioned in Zend Avesta Farvardin Yasht chapter 28 verse 129 (Sacred Books of the East, volume 23, Zend Avesta Part II pg. 220): "Whose name will be the Victorious, Soeshyant and whose name will be Astvat-ereta. He will be Soeshyant (The Beneficent one) because he will benefit the whole bodily world. He will be Astvat-ereta (he who makes the people, bodily creatures rise up) because as a bodily creature and as a living being he will stand against the destruction of the bodily (being) creatures to withstand the drug of the two footed brood, to withstand the evil done by the faithful (idolaters and the like and the errors of the Mazdaynians)". This Prophecy applies to no other person more perfectly than it does to Muhammad (pbuh): The Prophet was not only victorious at Fatah Makkah but was also merciful when he let go the blood thirsty opponents by saying: "There shall be no reproof against you this day". Soeshyant means the 'praised one' (refer Haisting's Encyclopedia), which translated in Arabic means Muhammad (pbuh). Astvat-ereta is derived from the root word Astu which in Sanskrit as well as in Zend means 'to praise'. If there was ever a region that can be described with the old geographical cliché that it is a country of opposites, it must be Bactria. Situated between the Hindu Kush mountain range in the south and the river Oxus (Amudar'ya) in the north, it is essentially an east-west zone that consists of extremely fertile alluvial plains, a hot desert, and cold mountains. Bactria (Bactriana, in Persian, also Bhalika in Arabic and Indian languages, and Ta-Hsia in Chinese) was the ancient Greek name of the country between the range of the Hindu Kush and the Amu Darya (Oxus); its capital, Bactra or Balhika or Bokhdi (now Balkh), was located in what is now Afghanistan. It is a mountainous region with a moderate climate. Water is abundant and the land is very fertile. Bactria was the homeland of Aryan tribes who moved south-west into Iran and into North-Western India around 2500-2000 BC Later it became the north province of the Persian Empire in Central Asia.(Cotterell, 59) It was in these regions, where the fertile soil of the mountainous country is surrounded by the Turanian desert, that the prophet Zarathushtra (Zoroaster) was said to have been born and gained his first adherents. Avestan, the language of the oldest portions of the Zoroastrian Avesta, was once called "old-iranic" which is related to Sanskrit. Conservative Zoroastrians assign a date of 6000 BCE to the founding of the religion; other followers estimate 600 BCE. Historians and religious scholars generally date his life sometime between 1500 and 1000 BCE on the basis of his style of writing. He lived in Persia, modern day Iran. Legends say that his birth was predicted and that attempts were made by the forces of evil to kill him as a child. He preached a monotheism in a land which followed an aboriginal polytheistic religion. He was attacked for his teaching, but finally won the support of the king. Zoroastrianism became the state religion of various Persian empires, until the 7th Century CE. When Muslim Arabs invaded Persia in 650 CE, a small number of Zoroastrians fled to India where most are concentrated today. Those who remained behind have survived centuries of persecution, systematic slaughter, forced conversion, heavy taxes, etc. They now number only about 18000 and reside chiefly in Yazd, Kernan and Tehran in what is now Iran. According to the Fezana Journal survey, published quarterly by the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America, there are about 11000 Zoroastrians in the United States, 6000 in Canada, 5000 in England, 2700 in Australia and 2200 in the Persian Gulf nations.
