Bayat Foundation Dedicates Maternity Hospital in Behsood (Wardak), Afghanistan
Ehsan Bayat, Chairman of the Bayat Foundation, dedicated a new 30-bed maternity hospital in Hessa Dowom, Wardak Province, Afghanistan on April 13, 2011. The Bibi Khairi Gul hospital fills a critical need in the Behsood district, an underserved and underdeveloped area of Afghanistan. The Bibi Khairi Gul Hospital is one of two hospitals completed and dedicated on April 13, 2011, by the Bayat Foundation in the Behsood district to serve patients from the surrounding region. The one-story hospital took 16 months to finish and is built to a modern design, with a complete electrical system, patient rooms, operating room, delivery room, post-op recovery room, a pharmacy, doctor's office, reception area, storage and bathrooms. Bayat Foundation hospitals and clinics in Afghanistan have treated over 400000 patients and the number keeps growing. Ehsan Bayat said, "We are thankful to have the opportunity to aid the women of Afghanistan through medical resources such as Bibi Khairi Gul hospital. You can see the hope and excitement on the faces of the local women, and all that it means to the families and villages in Wardak Province." Taped by Mr. Mohammad Ahmadi in the Hazara area of Behshood, Afghanistan, the video shows a pick-up truck piled high with goods looted from the Hazara homes in the background. Note that the goods include rugs, appliances, and large sacks of grain— all valuable items that can be re-sold. On the ground, clothing and other items have been strewn in the dirt. The goal is to discourage Hazara, who fled attacks that have led to many dead and wounded, from returning to their homes. The Hazara people have lived in Behsood for at least 3000 years, but their Asian roots and beliefs, stemming more from Buddhism than Islam have made them continual targets of Pashtuns. Hazara culture promotes democracy, equal justice, womens rights and education for all, which has been a great problem with the autocratic Taliban supporters and fundamentalist Muslims, who have been intent on dispersing millions of Hazara and weakening their influence in modern Afghanistan. kabulpress.org

The majority of the province is used as rangeland with some areas of irrigated and rain fed corps. There is some disagreement whether the wardaks are karlanri or ghilzai pashtun. Most evidence exept for hesa awal behsood and markazi behsood.
