Xurasanian tajik culture: Farsi Qawali by Ustad Fateh Ali Khan
Xurasanian Farsi/Parsi Music culture ''Qawali'', an old Indian term for ''Kabuli'', in Iran used to designate gypsies (Jats), which does not mean that Kabulian are gypsies but that the Jats in Iran are from the Kabul-valley. It highest peack it reached in Xurasan and India when native Heratis, Nishapuris Kabulians, Balkhis, Deqanis (Kandaharis), Sistanis, Samarqandis, Bukharis etc. (Persian Tajiks and Eastern-Aryan Tajiks) took their culture to India and served their as teachers, masters, artists, musicians, scholars etc. in the royal courts. Zarafshon Valley, Tajikistan, 2009
When travelling from Pantjakent in the west of Tajikistan into the Zarafshon Valley we saw an amazing landscape of great beauty. Through countless generations the Tajiks living here have taken great care for the valley and enabled this area to provide resources for living. The imprint of the people are left here in perfect harmony with the surrounding beauty of the mountains

Tajik Dancing, Wakhan Valley, Tajikistan
Driving along the Afghan border in Tajikistan with Peregrine Adventures, we came across a Wakhan Valley village staging a music, singing and dancing show. The dancers were from the capital Dushanbe and were there to celebrate and warm up the village for the imminent visit of the Tajikistan President. He arrived the next day. There was an official cameraman there -perhaps the footage would be spliced in with the presidential visit for Tajik state TV. The whole village was present, all the women and children looking from one side and from atop a wall along the roadway before the 'stage', the men to the other side. Locals got up and danced alongside the performers occasionally too.

Tajikistan. Terrorists destroy military column in Rasht region
Russian TV report: News about the shelling of the military column and the death of 23 servicemen are broad-casted on all TV channels in Tajikistan. Today the Ministry of Defense has officially declared that the attack in Tajikistan was made by supporters of former warlords- Falouddina Davlatov and Abdullah Rakhimov,(better known as Mullo Abdullo.) The soldiers were attacked by grenade launchers and machine guns. During the Civil War in the mid-1990s, the leaders of the United Tajik opposition, (including Mullo Abdullo) were based in Rasht region. The Civil War in 1990s was so brutal and bloody, that the civilian population fled to Afghanistan, ie even in Afghanistan it was better than at home. In 1997 a reconciliation agreement was signed. Mullah Abdullah didn't accept the agreement. He fled to Pakistan where he fought with the Taliban. Last summer, he returned back to Tajikistan. September 15, the heads of all law enforcement agencies in Tajikistan went to Rasht district to negotiate with former warlords. According to the source agency ItarTass, meeting lasted several hours behind closed doors and sides didn't make any agreement. It was Wednesday, and on Sunday a military convoy was ambushed in Rasht.

Roadtrip through the Western Pamirs, Tajikistan (2007)
Traveller's Teacup Sept 2007 - The Tajikistan Pamirs are an incredibly remote part of the world. To get there you either need to drive for 16 hours from Dushanbe (capital city), on a road that makes a milkshake seem tame or you can take a tiny plane that doesn't quite get up above 6000m cliff faces. Despite the horror stories, the flight was worth it. Looking out the window to the south, the Hindu Kush mountain range of Afghanistan was clearly visible and at times too close! After notably fuelling the car in Khorog for our 600km journey, we took off South towards the Wakhan Valley. This fertile valley has been inhabited and used as a Silk road trade route for centuries and is littered with archaeological markers. Age old petroglyphs, 3rd century BC Forts, Buddhist stupas and hermit caves, Islamic mausoleums, and burnt out army tanks document the valley's colourful history. This valley straddles the Tajiki-Afghani border and looking right across the Pyanj river is Afghanistan and the magnificent Hindu Kush. Famously known as the Wakhan Corridor, it was divvied up as a "no-mans land" by Britain and Russia during the Great Game era. Today, it is a border heavily guarded for obvious reasons including drug trafficking. The Tajiki side of the road is maintained but at points little more than a steep bumpy mountain track (I hope the footage doesn't make you too seasick!). The local people are mountain farmers who get around in 4wd jeeps and constantly breaking down trucks. The ...

Ahmad Shah Massoud National Hero of Afghanistan song by wahid qasemi
A special song dedicated by famous singer Wahid Qasemi to Ahmad Shah massoud. Afghanistan Ahmad Shah Massoud - National Hero of Afghanistan. Ahmad Shah Massoud This legendary warrior defied Afghanistan's Soviet invaders, only to be assassinated by al-Qaeda By Peter Bergen The two Arab TV journalists who had been hanging around for weeks to secure an interview with the storied Afghan military commander Ahmad Shah Massoud finally got their chance to speak with him on Sept. 9, 2001. They set up their gear and asked a question about Osama bin Laden. Then one of them detonated a bomb hidden in a camera, killing himself and mortally wounding Massoud. The journalists were, in fact, al-Qaeda assassins, and it was bin Laden who had ordered the hit just before the 9/11 attacks on the US Kenzo Tange The architect who built Japan The Dalai Lama A lighthouse and a lightning rod Hayao Miyazaki The foremost anime auteur Jahangir Khan Sport's greatest conqueror Li Ka-shing Asia's business "Superman" other stories » Get The Magazine Try 4 issues FREE Give a gift of TIME Historians will record Massoud's assassination as the curtain raiser for the attacks on New York City and Washington DC that followed. The Afghan leader was the principal antagonist of the Taliban; by engineering his death bin Laden gave the Taliban something they desperately wanted, and ensured that the Taliban would protect al-Qaeda in Afghanistan after 9/11. Qarsaki Meli Afghanistan
Qarsak is the national song and dance of Afghanistan. It orginated in Panjshir where the people sit around in a circle and clap while one person dances in the middle. The music is accompanied with clapping. Qarsak is the closest to a national dance and song in Afghanistan. Afghanistanis perfom Qarsak, at parties and weddings, etc. Some people say that the attan is the national dance but that is wrong. The Attan is a tribal dance and it is limited to nomadic Pashtuns in the south and its unknown to everyone else. Even the new singers who come out with new DVDs and CDs include one or two Qarsaks in the new albums. Beautiful Pakistan - Land of the Beautiful
This is a video about Pakistan with the Pashto song ''Stargo Bala Wakhlom'' remix in the background. Pakistan is such a diverse country with incredible potential and many things about the country are unknown to the outside world and even to native Pakistani's themselves. Often times, the news media doesnt show this aspect of my country. The country has progressed considerably since gaining independence from Britain in 1947. Starting off at a literacy rate of just 6% and barely any infrastructure and only one industrial unit, the country has made considerable progress in the last 60 years. Much more work needs to be and will be done. Despite being in a hostile environment , surrounded by a hostile neighboors and been threatened by countries many times larger, the country remains resilient and vigilant. The country squared off and beat back then super power USSR in the west and brought about its demise. It has fought countless wars against india in the east, a country whose population is over a billion people and continually provokes it, yet Pakistan continues to stand its ground and grows stronger. Later, terrorists and militants in connivance and support of our neighboors like india have tried and failed in their attempts to get innocent Pakistani civilians to submit to their world vision of intolerance and demands through their acts of violence and terror. The Pakistani people, the Pakistani army and the international community refuse to give in to such tyranny. Pakistan ...

Hundreds of Thousands gathered for the funeral of Ahmad Shah Massoud The Lion of Afghanistan Part 2
This Film is directed by Ariana on the funeral of Commander Massoud, assassinated Sept. 9, 2001 and buried in his hometown of jangalak the heart of the Panjshir Valley. It was fundamentally America's project that attacked to Afghanistan in year 2001 without Ahmad Shah Massoud existence and his sovereignty, I know, you know this, and the world considered that as long as Massoud is alive taking over is impossible ever. And I ask you people that why did the US couldn't invade to Afghanistan before his assassination? The answer for this question is: There wouldn't be any kind of power able to invade Afghanistan if Ahmad Shah Massoud was alive now or if hadn't been assassinated. He was himself strict defender of his soil along with his allies till last drop of their bloods. Ahmad Shah Massoud would have opposed the US mission to invade of Afghanistan or would have not let foreign troops to stay longer in Afghanistan. And Massoud could have done resistance anytime against the enemies of Afghanistan. On September 9, 2001, two days before the cataclysmic attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, Ahmad Shah Massoud, commander of the ...

Afghanistan - YUNUS QANOUNI, يونس قانوني - part 1
Yunus Qanuni (يونس قانوني, also transliterated Qanooni and Qanouni) (born 1957) is a politician in Afghanistan. An ethnic Tajik from the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan, Qanuni is the leader of the Afghanistan e Naween (New Afghanistan) political party and former Speaker of the House of the People (the lower house of parliament or Wolesi Jirga). Pre Election Life Following the Soviet Intervention of Afghanistan in 1979, Qanuni joined with the mujahideen force led by Ahmad Shah Massoud based in his native Panjshir Valley. A protégé of Massoud, he was involved in the creation of the Afghan Northern Alliance and served as Interior Minister in Burhanuddin Rabbani's government. After the assassination of Massoud in 2001, a trio consisting of Qanuni, Defence Minister Mohammed Fahim and Foreign Minister Dr Abdullah took defacto control of the Northern Alliance and its financial resources. As a member of the Northern Alliance, he supported the United States invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, but opposed Pakistani involvement, as Pakistan favored a reformed Taliban government rather than a new government based upon the Afghan Northern Alliance. In 2001, Qanuni served as chief negotiator for the Afghan Northern Alliance delegation to the Bonn conference on Afghanistan in Bonn, Germany.
